Merino could make surprise debut for Arsenal

New Arsenal midfielder Miguel Merino could make his debut for Mikel Arteta’s side in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain.

The 28-year-old joined from Real Sociedad in the summer but suffered a shoulder injury in training after a clash with team-mate Gabriel Magalhaes.

However, footage from the team’s training session on Monday showed Merino. Was fit to play, with his sliding tackle on Gabriel Jesus suggesting. He could be available for his first appearance. Merino,

During the 2017/18 season, Merino featured for Newcastle United under Rafael Benitez, on loan from Borussia Dortmund.

It was not a spell that lives long in the memory, but when you look back at his defensive numbers from that campaign, it is remarkable he made only 24 Premier League appearances, and just 14 starts, before going back to Dortmund and then being sold to Real Sociedad.
