Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is confident that young midfielder Curtis Jones has the potential to become a key player for both club and country.

Gerrard has been praising Jones’ progress since making his debut under Jurgen Klopp in September 2019 and how he has become a regular starter last season. His

impressive displays earned Jones his first England call-up for Euro 2024,

although he was not selected. The 23-year-old has continued to impress and scored on his international debut against Greece last week.

“I’ve always known that with the right guidance and support he could be a key player for the team and I think he’s ready to be a key player for the team now,” Gerrard told ufabet http://ufabet999.app Times.

The midfielder, now manager at Al-Ettifaq, also spoke about Jones’ development through the Liverpool academy and said he had never doubted the player’s talent.

“He’s a typical lad growing up, very technically gifted, very skilled, very good on the ball. He’s got a lot to improve on,” added the England legend.

“The key thing for me and lads at that age is do they have the hunger and the drive? Are they willing to make sacrifices in order to be consistent? “

Curtis has got a lot to learn, a lot to improve on. I’m really excited to see what Arne Slott can do to take him to the next level. He’s still so young. “

Rafa (Benitez) has taken me to another level and what’s exciting for me when I look at Arne is that he looks like the guy who can really help Curtis to the next level. “

If he can help Curtis get to that level then we’ll have a top international player on our hands.”
